Category: Microeconomic Analysis

Date: 17/06/2025

Climate change is expected to significantly affect the Greek economy, impacting critical productive sectors and creating challenges and opportunities for investment and innovation. Effective economic adaptation requires targeted interventions in strategically important sectors, with an emphasis on integrating climate risk, monitoring relevant indicators, and deploying appropriate financial tools. The IOBE study series leads to the development of a strategic plan for climate change mitigation and adaptation, analyzing six key sectors (primary sector, industry, tourism, households, financial sector, entrepreneurship) and providing a synthesis report outlining the main strategic directions. The project was carried out with the support of the Bicentennial "Initiative 1821-2021" (Protovoulia '21) and funding from the Captain Vassilis and Carmen Constantakopoulos Foundation and the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation. The Climate Change and Sustainability Centre of the Bank of Greece and Accenture also contributed to the project. The analyses and conclusions presented reflect IOBE’s independent research approach.
