The Consumer Association New INKA (INKA) is considered as the biggest and oldest Consumer Organization in Greece.
INKA is in line with the Law 2251 / 94. INKA is registered to the First Instance Court of Athens (Decision 4598 / 96) according to the Greek Civil Legislation as an Association. Furthermore, in order to be considered as a Consumer Association in accordance with the specific Greek Consumer Law (Law 2251 / 94), INKA, is also registered at the prefectural authorities of Athens (decision 2404/12 – 11 – 96).

The reason of INKA’s foundation was the protection of Consumers’ rights as well as, the amelioration of the quality of life.
 INKA is independent from industrial, commercial and political interests, and effectively claiming for consumers’ rights. INKA actively supports dialogue procedures with the social partners as well as with all political parties and the government. INKA represents since 1996 consumers in all governmental bodies or agencies and committees involved in taking decisions affecting consumers.  It is worth mentioning that on 13 March 2001, INKA was quoted the Award of the City of Athens (Municipality of Athens) for its contribution to the protection of Consumers.
INKA, after it’s continuous – thirty four (34) years – dominating presence among Consumer Associations all over the Country, is actively involved in Consumer Policy in Greece.
INKA actively represents Greek Consumers at most National and European bodies and Institutes that are directly or indirectly involved in Consumer Policy development and / or enforcement procedure, as well as activities that affect Consumers’ interests. Consumer Information and Legal Advice lay amongst the main INKA’s activities.
The services provided are Amicable Dispute and Complaints’ Resolution, Information and Support on Access to Justice, Juridical Support etc. Furthermore as a key activity, consumer education focuses a lot of INKA’s concern. Main channel for the provision of consumer education is the implementation of seminars and conferences.
Over the past five (5) years INKA realized seminars and implemented info / educational programs on a variety of topics, including:

 Consumers’ Law,
 Consumers’ Awareness,
 Medicines – Patients’ Rights,

In addition, INKA has proved during the 34 years of its operation that has in its disposal competent scientific and administrative staff. A staff which can assure that the immaculate spirit of cooperation, development and enhancement of our Association represents the steady basis of its creation. The high level of services, the accuracy of information provided to the Consumers, the common sense of a friendly advice and assistance, consist of the main elements of INKA’s administration.
Consumer Policy
INKA realizes the Consumers’ Right to Representation at its full length, actively representing Greek Consumers at most of the National and European bodies and institutes that are directly or indirectly involved in Consumer Policy development and/or enforcement procedures, as well as activities that affect Consumers’ interests.

Information and Advice
Consumer Information and Advice lay amongst the main activities of INKA. A nation-wide, network of Consumer Info-Centres or occasional info kiosks and mobile form are the live access points for Consumers to Information and Advice, Amicable Dispute Resolution, Legal Advice and Support provided by the all around Greece consumer cooperating organizations.
This activity is complemented by a series of printed and electronic publications that are published regularly (Magazines, News Letters, Web Sites) or occasionally (Brochures, Leaflets, CD ROMs, Video Tapes) as well as a dense presence in the media and the realization of informative campaigns and open meetings. Finally it is supported by the elaboration of consumer research and studies, comparative tests, market and price surveys and others.

Legal Advice and Support
More than 2 Million consumers trusted INKA since its origin for the resolution of their consumer disputes. This huge number reveals the importance of the work done by the Legal Department of the Organization and its contribution to Greek Consumers. The services provided are: Amicable Dispute Resolution, Legal Advice, Information and Support on Access to Justice, Juridical Support etc.
Consumer education
 As a key activity, consumer education focuses a lot of the Organization’s concern.
The main channel for the provision of consumer education is the implementation of seminars and conferences. Over the past five years, the organization realized numerous of seminars and info/educational programs on a variety of topics, including: Food Safety, Consumers and the Euro, Price Surveys, Tourists’ Protection, Consumers’ Law, Consumers’ Awareness, Participation and Sensitization, Medicines – Patients’ Rights, Home Accidents, Advertising, Culture Consumer, Citizens First Campaign, Training Consumers on Nutrition, Electronic Commerce etc.
The seminars are organized in a decentralized way and in more than 45 cities covering practically the entire Greek territory, both geographically and demographically. Thousands of consumers, teachers of the primary and secondary education, consumer organization staff, journalists and other key multipliers and opinion makers were educated in relation to the Consumers Interests on the aforementioned topics.
Furthermore, traditional as well as new technological tools like printed publications, videotapes, Internet and CD ROMs have also been used to publish-disseminate educational material and tools to the consumers.
